What is OnlyIfGone?
OnlyIfGone is an app that allows people to leave personal digital messages, files, or final instructions to be delivered only after their passing - to the individuals they have personally selected.
Who is involved in the process?
You will assign three types of people: Notifier The person responsible for informing us that you have passed away. You may select up to three notifiers. The process will begin once at least one of them submits a notification. Verifier The person you trust who confirms that the information is accurate before your legacy is delivered to recipients. You may select up to three verifiers, but confirmation from one, other than the notifier, is sufficient to release your legacy. Recipients The individuals who will receive your message. You may select as many recipients as you wish or choose to make the message public. Notifiers and verifiers may also be recipients.
What does it mean to make the message public?
Making a message public means it will be released through a public URL. Anyone with access to the link will be able to view it. The link may also be published on the OnlyIfGone platform if applicable.
What happens after I complete my Digital Legacy?
Once you complete your Digital Legacy, OnlyIfGone will send a message to your selected Notifier and Verifier. The message will introduce the platform, explain how it works, and inform them that you have entrusted them with this responsibility. It will clearly outline their roles and what actions, if any, are required from them in the future. No content is shared at this stage - it is simply a notification so they are aware of their role and understand the process.
What will recipients receive?
Recipients will receive a message that includes: - Context about why they are being contacted - A brief explanation of OnlyIfGone - A secure link to access the files or messages you left for them If they do not remember being part of the process, the message gently reminds them why they were selected.
What kind of content can I leave?
You may upload up to 3 files or 500 MB total, including: - Letters - Audio or video messages - Legal instructions or personal wishes - Documents or digital files - Any message you want someone to receive after you're gone All content is encrypted and securely stored.
When are the messages or files delivered?
Messages are delivered only when both conditions are met: 1. OnlyIfGone receives a notification of your passing from at least one notifier. 2. At least one verifier confirms the information. Notifier and verifier cannot be the same person. Once both steps are completed, the message is released to the recipients. If there is a conflict or a lack of confirmation, delivery will remain paused until the situation is resolved.
What happens if the verifier does not respond?
We will send reminder messages and, if a phone number was provided, attempt to contact them directly. If there is still no response, we will notify the recipients that the message could not be delivered and offer them the option to request a review. No message will ever be released without proper verification.
What if the verifier confirms that I am alive?
If the verifier indicates that the death notice was incorrect, we will contact you directly. Rest assured, no message is delivered unless both required conditions are met. Recipients or contacts may also reach out to hi@onlyifgone.com if they believe the situation should be reviewed.
Should I grant the app access to all my contacts?
Yes. Granting access to your contacts allows the app to function more effectively and ensures smoother communication if needed.
Can I change my messages or contacts later?
Once the legacy process has been completed and payment has been made, no changes can be made.
Can I cancel the legacy after payment?
Yes, you may cancel it by sending an email to hi@onlyifgone.com. However, the investment is non-refundable.
